My StudyBass
Bass Songbooks
Throughout the StudyBass lessons, I reference songs that are transcribed in the books below. Here's an example of how songs are referenced in lessons.
More Accurate, Less Confusing
Published songbooks are far more accurate and trustworthy than bass tabs you'll find online even in 2026. When you're more developed, you can make your way through the traps and pitfalls of online bass tabs more easily. At least 9 out of 10 bass tabs I see have: bad fingerings, bad note names, no chord symbols, wrong notes, no rhythms, or wrong/missing key signatures. These are all critical to your learning and what I'm teaching you about in the StudyBass lessons.
Deep Musical Insight
Most of these suggested books have bass tab, too. Well-written standard music notation, however, is what gives you deep insight into the music you are learning. Online bass tabs are often more of a sketch to get you going. If you're just starting, you'll be far less confused by legitimate books transcribed, edited and corrected by multiple knowledgeable musicians.
If you're working through the lessons, pick up a few of these so you can practice the recommended songs and get the most out of your learning. If you only get one, get Bass Tab White Pages which I reference most.
