StudyBass Help FAQ

StudyBass is created and run all by one person. The more you can troubleshoot by reading this help FAQ before emailing me, the more lessons and tools I can add to the site. Thanks!

If you don’t see a solution to your problem in this FAQ, please report it so we can fix it.

User Account

I never got a confirmation email.

Check your spam/junk folder for the confirmation email.

If you didn't get an email, either the account was not created, or the email failed to send. Try logging in. If you see an “Account Disabled” error, the account exists but is not confirmed. Please request a new confirmation link.

If you don’t get an “Account Disabled” error, the account does not exist. Try creating the account again making sure cookies and javascript are allowed in your browser (or, at least, whitelist studybass.com).

404 Error when clicking confirmation email link.

This often happens when you accidentally click the link twice. Your account is probably confirmed. Try viewing your account.

500 Error when clicking confirmation email link.

There is a bug affecting a handful of users. The code in the link sent to you is corrupted. Please request a new confirmation email for your account.

I can’t log in.

Make sure you are logging in with your username, not your email.

Cookies are necessary to login. If you keep getting “Invalid username or password” and you know you are using the right username and password, you are probably blocking cookies for the website. To log in you must allow cookies or, at least, whitelist studybass.com.

If you see an “Invalid CSRF Token” error, try clearing your browser’s cache or restarting your browser.

If that’s doesn’t solve it, try resetting your password.

How do I view left-handed diagrams?

Log in (or create an account if you don’t have one) go to “Change My Settings” and select left-handed as your orientation.

Lessons don't use my favorite tuning.

Only the number of strings from this setting is applied to the lesson and exercise diagrams.

Your favorite tuning only applies to the online bass tuner and fretboard diagram printer.

Showing fingerings in every possible tuning would be very difficult in terms of structuring the lessons and curricula.

I can’t see the diagram well. Can I change it?

Yes. You might try the other backgrounds (fret wood color) of Maple or Rosewood. In your account, go to “Change My Settings” and select a new color.

If the text is too big or too small, try using CTRL & + or CTRL & - to resize. I made the font bigger on purpose knowing many of you are sitting at a distance holding a bass in your hands.
